Palma football

A county record 32 straight postseason appearances -- 32 consecutive winning seasons. Three plus decades of supremacy.
At some point it has to end, doesn't it?
At 1-3, the Chieftains are searching for solutions.
It's not the three losses that are as bothersome as the deficits. Palma has lost three games by 34, 23 and 22 points.
Yet, what strikes a nerve with the loss to Aptos is the Chieftains held a 13-0 halftime lead before the roofed caved in the second half.
Palma couldn't find the end zone in the second half, turned the ball over twice and watched Aptos run off 35 unanswered points.
The setback was just the second Gabilan Division loss the Chieftains have suffered since the league was formed six years ago.
If you're counting, Palma went into Friday's league opener 29-1 in the Gabilan Division.
Now before writing their eulogy, the program was 1-3 before in 2013, and rebounded to win seven games and a league title.
But there is some reason for concern. Palma couldn't respond when Aptos made a charge. It pressed and mistakes followed. The uniform isn't intimidating opponents.

As I said, Aptos' tough schedules in years past has more then prepared them for the MBL.
