Friday's game
North Salinas (1-3) at Salinas (2-2), 7:30 p.m.
Maybe the road is better suited for North Salinas, who is winless in three games at Rabobank, with its only win coming on the road.
Before coming over to Salinas four years ago, head coach Steve Zenk spent seven years as the man in charge at North Salinas, taking them to a share of a league title in 2008.
At one time, this was regarded as one of the biggest rivalry games in the county. That has soften over time with the Cowboys having won the last eight meetings.
In fact, the last time North Salinas beat Salinas was in 2008 when Zenk was the head coach and the team went 9-1 in the regular season.
The Cowboys piled up 338 yards on the ground last week against previously unbeaten Seaside, with Ritchie Cerda and Brett Reade both rushing for over 100 yards.
The first quarter continues to be a struggle for Salinas, having been outscored 41-13 this year. That's more points than it has allowed over the next three quarters combined.
Quarterback Anthony Aguilar and Ritchie Reyes have hooked up 25 times for over 300 yards and four touchdowns this fall for North Salinas.
But if the Vikings can't get their ground game going, namely Tim Hunter, Salinas is going to bring a filthy pass rush that has recorded 13 sacks, five from Noah Habes
