Friday's game
Soledad (0-1) at Antioch (1-0), 7 p.m.
Coming off a North Coast Section finals appearance last year, the Panthers opened the season with a 24-0 win over Lincoln.
One of Antioch's setbacks last year was a 28-21 decision to De La Salle. Filling the void of losing a 2,800 yard tailback last year, Dalaan Green responded with a 188-yard rushing effort last week.
The shutout last week was the Panthers first in 20 games. Soledad should look a little different this week as two starters will return from one-game suspensions.
Emmanuel Ortega earned every one of his 139 rushing yards on 29 carries for the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champion Aztecs in their 31-13 loss to Seaside.
Soledad turned the ball over three times last week, putting pressure on a defense that found itself on the field a long time. Its only home loss last year was to Seaside.
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Antioch has gone undefeated the last two years in the Bay Valley Division of the NCS, and is 10-1 at home over the last two seasons.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 108 degrees on Friday in Antioch, dipping down to 102 by kickoff.
