Saturday's game
Greenfield (0-0) vs. Pajaro Valley (0-1) at Cabrillo College, 7:30 p.m.
Two teams that could be league rivals next year will meet at least one more time as non-league opponents.
Little went right for the Grizzlies in a season opening 37-0 loss to St. Francis of Watsonville while Greenfield used its bye week to clean up some flaws witnessed at the South County Jamboree.
The Bruins have improved in the win column three consecutive years. The next step is overcoming their second quarter struggles, as they were outscored 116-35 last year.
Greenfield actually led in six of its 10 games last season, including its battle against Pajaro before falling late in the game 25-21.
Ironically, the Bruins are 4-2 over the last two years in games decided by four points or less. With several players going both ways, stamina is always a concern for both teams.
The Bruins did some encouraging things in their jamboree two weeks ago, showcasing an aerial attack that had its moments behind quarterback Andy Hernandez.
The Grizzlies have won the last four meetings between the two teams. Greenfield's last win came in 2010. The teams played to a tie in 2011 when lightening halted the game in the second half.
