Football rankings

1. Salinas: Elected to have its bye week in Week 1.
2. Palma: One league loss in five Gabilan Division seasons.
3. San Benito: Lost three quarters of its offense to graduation.
4. Seaside: Talent isn't the issue for the Spartans. Depth is.
5. Aptos: Every game will be a challenge in the Gabilan Division.
6. Carmel: Loaded for another run at an MTAL title.
7. Soledad: Brutal non-league schedule for reigning CCS champs.
8. Alvarez: Could be the most improved team in the Gabilan Division.
9. Scotts Valley: A sleeper team in its inaugural season in the MTAL.
10. Gilroy: Two 1,000 yard running backs have returned.
 On the bubble: North Salinas, Christopher, Monte Vista, King City, Monterey.

Looking at Aptos and they look like they are going to compete with Salinas, San Benito, and Palma. Aptos has a huge line - biggest in league and QBs look good with some skill at WR and at least one profile RB. San Benito will also suprise. Salinas offense should be very good, but not sure if it will be neutralized some games like it was last season. Palma may go through some growing pains but definately have some young impact players. I think the Gab is a 4 team race and probably a co-champ. Ball control teams may disrupt the high flying Cowboy offense and the Gab will have plenty of them. Alvarez and Seaside look interesting as well.
