Monica Abbott

The former North Salinas hurler  is 6-2 with a 1.24 earned run average and two saves since returning to the Houston-based Scrap Yard Dawgs, with 89 strikeouts in 51 innings.
Blessed with a million dollar arm, the 6-foot-3 left-hander has spent the last decade pitching professional in Japan and in the United States.
 Last year Abbott was 18-1 for the Scrap Yard Dawgs with an 0.72 earned run average, striking out 167 in 123 innings.
During her professional career in the National Pro Fastpitch League, Abbott is 188-39 with a 1.05 ERA. She has 1,453 strikeouts in 1,009 innings.
A four-time All-American at Tennessee, Abbott still holds collegiate records for career wins, strikeouts and shutouts. She also tossed 23 no-hitters.
 Prior to that, she pitched North Salinas to three Central Coast Section Divisional softball titles. Abbott won a silver medal with Team USA in the 2008 Olympics.
