David Wayne Russo is in his fifth season of playing independent minor league baseball, having joined the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League.
The left-handed Russo is 0-1 in nine appearances -- eight in relief. The former Monterey High standout has struck out 11 in 12 innings of work for the Blue Crabs.Russo is 8-11 overall in his minor league career with two saves. He was The Herald’s Baseball Player of the Year at Monterey in 2009.
