State swimming

Henry Blaul spent the entire season preparing for this moment.
For the second straight year, Blaul will represent York at the CIF State Swimming Championships today at Clovis West in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
While the goal last year was to peak at the section finals, training this season has been geared for a  big effort at the state swimming finals.
Blaul will go into today's prelims ranked seventh in the 200 individual medley (1:50.85) and ninth in the 100 breast (56.29). Both marks are slightly off his career bests.
Last year Blaul finished sixth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast at state.
Despite a ninth place finish last week at the section finals in the girls 50 yard freestyle, Selly Diallo of Pacific Grove earned a state qualifying mark at 24.00.
She is the first female in the county to qualify for the state swimming championships.
