Serena Benavente was named the German Basketball League finals Most Valuable Player, running the point in the USC Heidelberg teams German League championship.
Benavente put up career numbers this past season -- her eighth with the franchise -- finishing among the team leaders in minutes, scoring and assists.The 5-foot-6 guard helped Notre Dame to its first Central Coast Section Division IV title in 25 years during her senior season in 2003, before embarking on a college career at St. Mary’s.
