Salinas softball

It appears that the Cowboys will have a short stay in the Pacific Division.
Closing in on its first league title, Salinas should be moved back to the Gabilan Division next spring.
Confidence and pride has been restored, which is what the equity league is suppose to do.
Salinas can lock up the title on Wednesday and gain a measure of redemption in the process when it hosts the only league team to have beaten them this spring in Monte Vista Christian.
Back-to-back 1-11 seasons in the Gabilan Division warranted a move to the Pacific Division. Now the Cowboys have a chance to finish 11-1.
The Cowboys have put together an impressive resume this spring at 18-5, having posted non-league wins over Gabilan Division leader San Benito and rival North Salinas. It fell by a run to Notre Dame.
Four freshmen and two sophomores have made big impacts this year, including Nevaeh Pinon, Kayla Stone and Jessica Stewart. In addition, junior Leslie Romero will be back.
Stone leads the team in homers while Pinon has been a clutch run producer at the plate. Stewart has picked up three wins in league play, averaging eight strikeouts a game.
