Palma-San Benito baseball

Central Coast Section Open Division Playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 6 Palma (22-5) vs. No. 3 San Benito (20-8) at 11 a.m. at Hartnell College
I'm not sure anyone wants to see an opponent it has faced three previous times a fourth time in the same season in the postseason.
Then again, when it's a rivalry, there's nothing better than sending your opponent packing.
Last year Palma won the Gabilan Division title, only to see San Benito end its season in the Open Division playoffs.
The Chieftains hope to return the favor Saturday when they face the Gabilan Division champs at 11 a.m. at Hartnell College.
The Balers took two of three from Palma this season, winning both games on the road. Two of the three games were decided by two runs or less.
Palma, though, won't have Sam Stoutenborough on the mound, as the Cal bound hurler pitched a gem in Wednesday's 4-0 win over defending Division I champion Leland.
Stoutenborough pitched in Palma's 3-2 win over San Benito and 3-1 loss, posting a 10-1 record this spring. The Chieftains have three other arms that are a combined 12-4 this season.
The Balers had little trouble in shutting out San Lorenzo Valley 12-0 in its postseason opener. They also closed the regular season with a 2-0 win over Valley Christian.
