Pacific Collegiate-Carmel volleyball

Central Coast Section Division II semifinals
Saturday's game
No. 5 Carmel (21-6) vs. No. 1 Pacific Collegiate (30-4), 5:30 p.m. at St. Francis, Mountain View.
These two teams just faced each other on May 1 in an epic five-set match that Pacific Collegiate pulled out with a 16-14 win in the fifth set of a non-league match.
The purpose of the match was to prepare both teams for the postseason. Now there will be no secrets when the Gabilan Division champion Padres line up against Pacific Collegiate.
Carmel had little trouble in sweeping Aptos in its postseason opener while the Pumas needed five sets to get past Sobrato.
While the Padres may be missing one of their top hitters, 6-foot-5 Jared McNally and his 300 plus kills are at the net.
In the sweep of Aptos, Cole Dickman and Ben Airola stepped up, combining for 21 kills while setter Ezra Delbick mixed his sets, spreading ball around the net.
Carmel will have to find a way to slow down Pacific Collegiate's Wyatt Harrison, who has over 200 kills this spring.
The Pumas opened the season with 21 straight wins. Ironically, one of their four overall losses this year came in a five-set upset by Aptos in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play.
