Notre Dame-ND Belmont softball

Central Coast Section Division II Semifinals
Wednesday's game
No. 4 Notre Dame-Belmont (21-7) vs. No. 1 Notre Dame-Salinas (23-6) at PAL Stadium, San Jose, 7 p.m.
 These two catholic softball powers have met three times in the postseason over the last decade with the Spirits prevailing in the last two by 1-0 scores -- both in the semifinals.
 The Tiger win over Notre Dame came in the 2007 CCS Division III title game, a 5-4 decision.
 All three previous meetings have occurred at PAL Stadium.
 The Spirits have been on the assault offensively in two postseason games, having scored 11 runs in both wins, while the Tigers have not allowed a run in the playoffs.
 In fact, during their current 10 game winning streak, the West Bay Foothill Division champions have outscored the opposition 91-8.
 Madison Earnshaw is 20-6 in the circle this year for the Tigers with an 0.71 earned run average. The junior has 172 strikeouts in 148 innings of work.
 As a team, the Tigers are hitting over .350 with catcher Chloe Stogner having turned 38 hits into 38 runs batted in this spring.
 Three players are hitting over .400 for the Spirits, including Aly Gomonet and her team leading .450 average. Specner Hyosaka is hitting .422 with a team leading 27 runs batted in.
 As a team, the Spirits have hit 23 home runs, with Alexia Torculas and Kaeli Bush each having hit five -- Bush sending one into orbit in the teams last postseason game.
 Vanessa Gonzalez is a 20 game winner for the third straight year for the Spirits, with 166 strikeouts in 166 innings.
