 Based on section results, the Santa Catalina sophomore will go into Friday's State track and field championships ranked fourth in the pole vault at 13-feet.
 However, Wong has a best of 13-2, which is a Monterey County record. She had three near misses at 13-3 1/2 at last week's Central Coast Section finals.
 Rachael Baxter of Canyon in Anaheim is not only the defending state champion, but the state record holder at 14-2. She has a best of 14-4 this spring.
 Owner of a 17 inch personal best this year, Wong reached the state championships last year with a clearance of 11-9.
 Wong is the only vaulter in the top 10 not from southern California. She is one of just four to have cleared 13-feet last week
