Alisal-Westmont baseball

Central Coast Section Division I Semifinals
Thursday's game
No. 5 Alisal (19-9) vs. No. 1 Westmont (20-9) at San Jose Municipal Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
It's not the ideal situation if you are the Trojans, as nine players will spend the afternoon graduating before suiting up for the programs first ever semifinal appearance.
Alisal coach Graham Santiago hinted that his players may wear their uniforms under their gown, as they will have to depart almost immediately after the ceremony.
Few things have troubled the Trojans this spring as their historical season includes a school record for wins in league play and wins in the postseason.
JC Maravillo will likely get the call on the mound for Alisal. The senior hurled 7 2/3 innings in his last outing, allowing just one run.
Fourth place finishers out of the Mount Hamilton Division, the Warriors needed eight innings to get past Sequoia 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
Westmont's last setback was a 9-7 decision to Salinas in a non-league game on May 6. It also fell 8-0 to Palma earlier this spring.
Hunter Schilperoort has been a big bat in the heart of the order for the Warriors, with three homers and 27 runs batted in while hitting .452.
Schilperoort is also 8-2 on the season with an 0.87 earned run average. The senior did not pitch in the teams last game, which means he'll likely get the start Thursday.
Alisal has clawed and scratched for runs all season, relying on execution and timely hitting to score. Ruben Gomez and Raul Garnica have been clutch along with Josiah Ramos.
