Pacific Grove-Carmel baseball

You can make the argument that the Padres season -- or at least their bid to defend their Mission Trail Athletic League title -- will be on the line Saturday.
A loss to 11-0 Pacific Grove would put them five games back with six to play in the league season.
The Breakers, who have been the surprise of the MTAL season, rallied to post a 4-3 win over Carmel last Wednesday.
While Pacific Grove is 0-8 outside the MTAL, the team is unbeaten in league play behind a trio of sophomores, including Hunter Hanes, Jack Sendell and Trevor Heyn.
Hanes has anchored a pitching staff that has allowed just 11 runs in 11 league games. Either Dlyan Graham or Kevahn Ebron -- both sophomores -- will get the start Saturday.
The Padres are a different team in their cozy ballpark. Four of Christian Stapleton's six homers have come at Carmel while Ben Weber has launched four rockets into the netting.
Carmel's current four game losing streak is the longest since 2013.
