Hartnell men's track

The Panthers put together an impressive first day at the Coast Conference finals, producing 64 points on just a handful of events, opening up an early 24 point lead.
If Hartnell successfully makes it five straight conference crowns, it can point to the 10,000 meters, where it relied on a loaded distance team to sweep the first seven spots.
Soledad product Andrew Martinez lead a pack of Panthers, winning the conference title. All seven of the distance aces will be heard from again in Saturday's finals at MPC at other events.
The Panthers also got a big effort from Salinas High grad Thomas Salao, as the freshmen won the conference javelin title with a career best 167-feet-4.
Depth will be the key in Saturday's finals as Hartnell is expected to score heavily in the 800, 1,500 and 5,000.
While Hartnell is thin in the sprints, it will have finalists in both hurdle events and the 400, as well as five field events.
