Carmel-Pacific Grove softball

There has been nothing to suggest that the road to the Mission Trail Athletic League title still goes through the reigning league champion Padres.
Carmel has opened the season with five straight league wins, have scored 69 runs while not allowing a run.
Yet, if there is a team or two that could disrupt the Padres path to another title, it's their rivals to the north in Pacific Grove, who sits at 3-1.
The return of Danielle Pasquariello in the heart of the order has given the Breakers some punch at the plate, as she has three homers in her first four games.
Samantha Crowley and Diana Hughes have sprayed the ball all over the field this year while Parker Llantero has pitched well in the circle.
But can this potent lineup punch across a run against a Padre pitching staff anchored by sophomore Jessica Pavloff, who has a no-hitter to their credit?
Carmel is also the highest scoring team in the MTAL behind the bats of Anna Buzan and Kristin Cardinalli. Eight Buzan's 22 hits have gone for extra bases this spring.
Ashlyn Davis has been a run producer for the Padres, having driven in 18 runs in 13 games while Melissa Pavloff has knocked in 15.
