Softball rankings

1. Notre Dame: Has knocked off two WCAL powers in non-league play.
2. San Benito: Reigning CCS Division I champs were stunned by Salinas.
3. Christopher: Off to a 6-1 start, including four straight wins.
4. Watsonville: Opened the season with four consecutive wins.
5. Pacific Grove: Early season surprise with wins over Monterey and North Salinas.
6. North Salinas: Only setback was to surging Pacific Grove.
7. Carmel: Three losses by two runs or less to playoff teams from last spring.
8. Monterey: Still trying to fill a couple of positions with youth.
9. Salinas: Might be the most improved team in the tri-region this spring.
10. Alvarez: Is averaging over 10 runs a game in its five wins.
 On the bubble: Stevenson, Santa Catalina, North County, Gilroy.
