Stevenson-Pacific Grove boys hoops

Mathematically, the Pirates have not been eliminated from title contention.
Yet, the fact that Pacific Grove hasn't dropped two straight MTAL games in over four years makes it unlikely that it will share the title this year, as it closes the season hosting Gonzales on Friday.
That doesn't mean this battle won't have a playoff type atmosphere.
For starters, Stevenson is the only team to have beaten the Breakers this year in the MTAL, spoiling their bid for an undefeated league season with a 59-43 win.
Plus, both teams are looking for momentum going into the postseason.
The reigning Central Coast Section Division IV champion Breakers could very well be the top seed, while Stevenson is expected to earn a high seed in Division V.
The Pirates have also welcomed the return of Parker Olin, who is averaging 23 points a game since returning to the lineup from an elbow injury.
No doubt, Stevenson is a different team with Olin in the lineup.
Two-time reigning MTAL MVP Brad Sendell is averaging a career high 19 points a game for the Breakers while Zack Miller has provided a nice compliment inside the paint.
Stevenson had Pacific Grove on its heels in that first battle, outscoring them 17-8 in the first quarter and 17-11 in the third quarter. The 43 points was the Breakers second lowest total of the year.
