Since the return of UC Santa Barbara bound Belinda Ascencio, the defending Mission Trail Athletic League champion Aztecs have been nearly unbeatable.
Soledad is 8-0-1 since Ascencio missed two games. The senior sniper has scored in all nine games. At one point, she recorded the hat trick (three or more goals) in six straight games.
Mark her, shadow her, double her. Nothing has worked as Ascencio broke her own school record for goals in a season on Tuesday with 32 -- achieved in 15 games to date.
The all-time school record holder for goals for the Aztecs, Ascencio is approaching 100 career goals, having produced 92.
During its nine-game unbeaten streak, Soledad has outscored the opposition 51-8, with Ascencio having scored 26 goals and assisted on two others.
