Freshman Jensen Main has earned a spot in the University of New Mexico softball teams starting rotation, having posted a 3.44 earned run average in her first four starts.
Main, a former four-sport standout at Stevenson, is 2-3 in her first 27 1/3 innings. Main allowed just two runs in six innings of work in earning her first collegiate win against Western Michigan.
She tossed her first shutout on Saturday against Texas-San Antonio, allowing four hits over seven innings.
A four-year starting pitcher and cleanup hitter at Stevenson, Main was The Herald’s Female Athlete of the Year last season. She also started in water polo and soccer, and swam in the spring.
