Girls CCS wrestling
Jenna Garcia will look to make it three straight Central Coast Section wrestling titles -- this time at a higher weight class on Friday at Oak Grove in San Jose.
The Notre Dame senior, who has placed in the state meet in each of the last two years at 126 pounds, moved up two weight classes to 137, where she is ranked among the elite in the state.
Garcia would find herself matched up with Shanon Proa of Salinas in the finals. Proa is seeded No. 2 at 137.
Alisal has two wrestlers seeded No. 2 in Stephanie Ruelas at 121 pounds and Victoria Cabrera at 126. Teammate Melissa Rios is seeded No. 3 at 116.
Also seeded No. 2 in their respective weight classes are Alondra Paredes of Alvarez at 116 pounds and North Salinas' Carolina Johnson at 111 pounds.
Seeded No. 4 in their respective weight classes includes Aryanna Perez of Alvarez (143), Hannah Latham of Salinas (150) and Annjoeli Olaeta of Monterey (189).
