Boys soccer playoffs

You can't help but wonder why county teams keep getting lower seeds in the postseason.
I understand the past doesn't matter.
But it seems every year county teams buried at the bottom of the seedings respond.
None bigger than in the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs, when No. 16 Alvarez went on the road and stunned top seed Bellarmine 1-0.
Now Alvarez gets a rematch of last year's CCS Division I finals with Lincoln on Saturday.
But was the Eagles win really an upset?
Based on seedings, it was a shocker.
Than again Alvarez did something similar last year as a No. 11 seed, reaching the CCS Division I finals.
  And this has happened before.
In 2007, Gonzales was the last seed in the Division II playoffs and went out and won the CCS title, beating four higher seeded teams.
Speaking of the Mission Trail Athletic League champion Spartans, they erased some doubters as the No. 13 seed in Division II by beating No. 4 Burlingame 1-0.
Gonzales only got a home match because it won a league title. Now it gets WCAL power Serra on Saturday.
Soledad ignored its No. 10 seed and went on the road and beat Scotts Valley in Division II. No. 2 Menlo awaits.
