Projected girls basketball finishes

Gabilan Division
1. North Salinas: Has been a part of every league title since the Gabilan was formed.
2. Monte Vista: Snapped North Salinas' 35 game league winning streak last winter.
3. Salinas: Didn't have one senior starter on the roster last season.
4. Gilroy: Could surprise teams this winter in a balanced league.
5. Alisal: The reward for a Pacific title is a trip to the Gabilan.
6. San Benito: Three of its top five scorers are back in the fold.
7. Christopher: Growing pains are on the horizon for a program in transition.

Pacific Division
1. Seaside: The Spartans appearance in the Pacific could be brief.
2. Notre Dame: Will be a factor with its top two scorers back.
3. North County: There's always a trial period with a new coach.
4. Alvarez: Was in title contention until the final two weeks.
5. Pajaro Valley: A sleeper team after having a break out season last year.
6. Monterey: A youth movement last year could pay dividends this season.
7. Watsonville: Its two best players last season were sophomores.

1. Stevenson: Ambreece Gaskins can carry the Pirates to a title.
2. Carmel: The cupboard is far from bare for the reigning champions.
3. King City: Has the parts to return to prominence in a league it once owned.
4. Pacific Grove: Will be the most improved team in the county.
5. Greenfield: Defensive minded squad keeps them competitive.
6. Santa Catalina: Four of its top five scorers from last year are back.
7. Soledad: Closed last season with eight straight losses.
8. Gonzales: No where to go but up for a program in transition.
