Is there a hotter team in the area -- maybe the section -- right now than the Trojans, who will host equally hot Alvarez tonight.
Alisal is 5-0-1 since a 2-2 start, having not allowed a goal in all six games. It defeated two southern section powers in Los Angeles over the holidays and has wins over Bellarmine and defending CCS Division I champion Watsonville.
David Tapia is coming off a two-goal effort against San Benito while the defense has been flat out filthy in stopping opponents.
Among the Eagles (6-1-3) battles this year is a decision over Soledad and a tie to Mitty, two teams that defeated Alisal earlier this winter.
Ivan Gonzalez and Ricardo Soza have been Alvarez's primary snipers on offense while the defense has allowed just six goals in 10 games.
Alisal swept the season series last year and is 6-1-1 over the last four year years. The two teams played in arguably the best playoff game this decade in 2013, ending with the Trojans winning in a dramatic shootout in the semifinals en route to a section title.
