Steve Goodbody

People forget that when Steve Goodbody took over the Cowboys program, they were coming off a forfeited filled 1-9 season and in shambles.
Three years later Salinas began a streak of nine straight playoff appearances that remains in tact as he stepped down after 11 years.
Goodbody changed the culture at Salinas, creating a new identity after the program was placed on probation by the Central Coast Section for numerous violations following the 2005 season.
While people will argue that he never beat Palma, how many coaches have? That streak was rolling before he arrived.
Goodbody leaves Salinas in a much better situation than when he arrived. He is the winningest coach in school history with 67. The streak of nine straight postseason appearances is also a record.
Salinas grabbed a share of the Gabilan Division title in 2014, and reached the CCS Division I finals that same season.
And while expectations aren't always realistic, Goodbody's passion for his players was real. That will be difficult to replace.
