The Cowboys will go into the Christmas break 5-0, having yet to allow an opponent more than 35 points in a game.
Of course, Salinas hasn't faced a team with a .500 or better record. But that's not their fault.
Than again, maybe it is. Three of those opponents would be at .500 had they beaten the Cowboys.
Salinas may not be a program geared for a shootout. And that's fine when you have a defense that is disruptive in the paint and aggressive on the perimeter.
And as Salinas has shown, it can put points in the basket behind returning all leaguer Kathleen Bass and Maddie Smith, who dropped in 15 points in a win over King City.
Caitlin White and Jordan Granger have also led the team in scoring, creating a balanced attack that keeps opponents from focusing on one individual.
Overtaking reigning four-time Gabilan Division champion North Salinas is a tall order. But Salinas could be knocking on the door this winter.
