A playoff win has eluded the Aztecs in three previous trips to the postseason. But this team is built for a playoff run.
Soledad has put together a defense that put up record setting numbers this season, such as recording three shutouts, while allowing just nine points in the third quarter when games were still in doubt.
That doesn't include the 42 sacks or 15 interceptions -- four of which were returned for touchdowns this season, along with a fumble recovery.
Two of the Aztecs three losses this fall are to league champions. The other was to an 'A' league team headed to the postseason a ninth straight year.
Soledad coach Frankie Berlanga took a risk scheduling Seaside and Salinas in back-to-back games to open the season -- both losses.
Yet, he learned this group had some fight and determination. And it didn't like the taste of losing. It also prepped Soledad for league, where it went 6-1 for the second straight year.
Just five teams that have made at least three postseason appearances are winless in the CCS playoffs. It's a list the Aztecs want off of.
