King City will look for redemption tonight when it hosts Terra Nova in a rematch of last year's Division IV opening round.
The difference this season is the match will be in King City. And Grace Shepherd is an imposing 6-foot sophomore hitter instead of a freshmen getting her first taste of the postseason.
The Mustangs finished the year 20-7 while Terra Nova was 11-13 overall, 5-9 in the Peninsula Bay Division, an 'A' caliber league.
Carmel, who spent the first 22 matches on the road this season, will get reacquainted with visiting Harbor tonight in a Division IV opener.
Behind Megan Gonzalez, the Padres have the distinction of beating Harbor 2-0 in a tournament back in September. The Pirates finished third in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League
Salinas will approach the Division I playoffs as a new season when it hosts Lincoln tonight at 'The Corral'.
The Cowboys won 20 matches this fall, with their only two Gabilan Division setbacks coming from San Benito, who is in the inaugural Open Division.
Lincoln won 19 matches this year and finished 11-3 in the Blossom Valley Athletic League behind league champion Sobrato.
Pacific Division champion Alisal (22-9), who posted its first ever undefeated league season, will host Cupertino (18-17) in the Division I playoffs.
Alvarez won just one match in the Gabilan Division this season. But it was 7-2 outside league play, getting the last spot in the Division I playoffs, where it will visit Los Gatos.
