Saturday's game
West Hills (5-2) vs. Hartnell (5-2) at Rabobank, 6 p.m.
The defending conference champions are playing at a high level, having rattled off five straight wins since opening the season with two losses.
Since joining the American Golden Conference, West Hills is 14-1, having chalked up nine straight conference wins, ending Hartnell's nine-game winning streak last year.
Kimuani Johnson is coming off his best rushing effort for West Hills, going over 100 yards in a 21-17 win over previously unbeaten MPC.
Hartnell is struggling to score points offensively, averaging just 22.6. It managed just 16 in a win over winless Cabrillo last week.
Sherrod Hawkes is averaging 101.8 yards a game on the ground for the Panthers, having produced seven touchdowns this fall.
What has plagued Hartnell is mistakes, having turned it over 22 times, making them minus eight in turnover ratio.
Donyae Moody continues to be among the state leaders in tackles with 81, while Palma grad Angel Maldonado has recorded a team high 6 1/2 sacks and Alvarez alum Lanier King 5 1/2.
