Watsonville-Monterey football

Friday's game
Watsonville (3-4) at Monterey (3-4), 7:30 p.m.
Two teams that had playoff visions dancing in their heads last week failed to clear a hurdle with crippling road losses.
Running the table from this point might not be enough.
The Toreadores have been a different team at home, having won their last three games by an average of 28 points.
Watsonville is just 1-3 on the road. But that win was a 35-14 decision over North County, the same team that just ended Monterey's three-game winning streak.
Sophomore quarterback Evans Charles has been a playmaker for the Toreadores with over 1,000 passing and rushing yards.
Marcus Dorn Jr. has been his primary target, leading the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns. Establishing the ground game is critical for Monterey.
Bishop Ward has grinded out over 600 yards in six games for the Toreadores, with three games over 100 yards rushing. Effectively running the ball also keeps the defense fresh.
