Water polo tournament finals

Well, there will be no secrets Saturday when Carmel and Soquel get together a third time in six years for the Gabilan Division water polo boys tournament title at 3:15 p.m. at Aptos High.
The two water polo powers have an odd history, particularly in the even years, as the Padres have won both tournament titles after being swept in the regular season by Soquel.
Nothing has changed in 2016 as Soquel swept the regular season series from the Padres yet again.
Carmel is coming off a dramatic and emotionally spent 8-7 triple sudden death overtime win over defending champion Santa Cruz to advance to the tournament finals.
While Kevan Auger has been the Padres perennial threat at the net, Max House and Parker Fisher rose to the occasion on Wednesday along with goalie Carter Whitaker.
Soquel, owners of 22 league titles in the last 23 years, has amassed 302 goals this season, with 73 coming from Kalani Foots.
Monterey, who won the programs first regular season title outright in the Pacific Division, will get reacquainted with Christopher in the Pacific boys finals.
The two teams split their head-to-head meetings during the regular season. The Toreadores will go into the tournament title match riding a 12 game league winning streak.
Goalie Andres Poehner has recorded 202 saves this season for Monterey while Connor Hertsch and Jonathan Nuttall have combined for 96 goals.
Santa Catalina will get one more shot at Pacific Division girls champion Salinas in the tournament title match.
The Cowboys were undefeated behind Samantha Reich, who has 45 goals. Goalie Alison O'Dell has recorded 70 plus saves this year.
Abby Fisher has produced 70 goals this fall for the Cougars while Ivy Armijo has 42 goals ,62 steals and 35 assists. Lauren Morganthaler has recorded 105 saves in the cage.
