Salinas-Monte Vista volleyball

Put redemption in the rear view mirror.
First place is at stake tonight when the Cowboys travel to face co-leading Monte Vista.
The two teams had an epic first match in which Salinas rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets, including a 16-14 decision in the fifth set.
Since that setback, Monte Vista has rattled off nine straight wins, including a sweep of San Benito, who is also locked in a tie at the top of the Gabilan Division in the loss column.
Neutralizing the Mustangs Sjea Anderson is critical for Salinas. The 5-foot-10 outside hitter had 18 kills in the first meeting and is chasing 300 kills on the season.
No one has been more valuable to their team this season than Taylor Rose, who leads the Cowboys in kills. Kathleen Bass and Sam Shaffer have been contributors off sets from Kamryn Sutton.
Five of Salinas' seven league wins have been by sweeps. Monte Vista has swept eight of its last nine opponents.
