Palma-Monte Vista football

Friday's game
Palma (4-2) at Monte Vista (6-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Chieftains put together an epic fourth quarter comeback in last year's battle, erasing an 11-point deficit by outscoring Monte Vista 21-0 in the fourth quarter.
Palma has been a different team since giving up 52 points in its season opening loss to North Coast Section power Sutter, having allowed just 62 points in its last five games.
The Mustangs are 26-6 in their last 31 games, with two of those losses coming in the postseason. The defense is allowing less than 17 points a game this fall.
Tailback Emilio Martinez is closing in on another 1,000 yard season for Palma, while rushing for 17 touchdowns this year.
Quarterback Zach Flores has tossed five touchdowns during Palma's four-game winning streak, with just one pick in his last 48 attempts.
Palma is 25-1 since the Gabilan Division was formed, with the one setback coming on the road. The Mustangs are undefeated at home since returning to the Gabilan last season.
Quarterback Devon Daich has been effective and efficient in throwing the ball for Monte Vista with over 800 passing yards and 11 touchdowns
