Ray Guy 2015 finalist Michael Carrizosa is seventh in the nation in punting this fall for the San Jose State football team, averaging 47.2 yards a punt.
Carrizosa, a Palma product, averaged a season high 55.5 yards on six attempts against New Mexico, including a season best of 64 yards.
A walk-on at San Jose State three years ago, Carrizosa was one of three punters last spring to be nominated for the Ray Guy award, named after the former Raiders punter as the best punter in the NCAA.
Last season Carrizosa was the Spartans Special Teams Player of the Year, averaging over 49 yards a punt, including a career high 74 yards.
