Hartnell-Gavilan football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (3-1) vs. Gavilan (2-2) at Gilroy High, 1 p.m.
For the first time all season, the Panthers didn't trail in a game last week, although the outcome was a two-point nailbitter -- that coming on the heels of a one-point win two weeks ago.
Hartnell has taken advantage of its home schedule, as it is 3-0 at Rabobank. Now it searches for its first road win against an improved Gavilan squad.
Sherrod Hawkes leads the conference in rushing with 404 yards for the Panthers, having gone over 100 yards rushing in his last two games.
Dorion Isaak has looked more comfortable in the pocket of late with seven touchdown passes, five going to Elisha Peat or North Salinas grad Randy Ivey.
After a 2-0 start, which surpassed Gavilan's win total from 2015, it's dropped two straight, including a 41-20 decision last week to MPC.
Receiver Ryan Reynolds has four of the Rams 11 touchdowns this year, and is third on the team in all purpose yards with 333.
Hartnell coach Matt Collins landed a jewel this fall  in linebacker Donyae Moody, who is terrorizing opponents with 50 tackles and three sacks.
Monterey product Matt Wright has found a home as an outside linebacker with 21 tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery, while Palma product Eduardo Barbosa has 20 tackles and three sacks.
