Gonzales-Stevenson football

Saturday's game
Gonzales (0-6) at Stevenson (3-2), 2 p.m.
The Pirates are likely going to have to run the table to have any hope of reaching the playoffs with two league losses.
Gonzales, who has dropped eight straight dating back to last year, is playing for pride, as injuries have depleted the roster.
Jose Espinosa, who began the fall as the teams top returning receiver, was forced to play quarterback after injuries to the Spartans first two signal callers.
Espinosa has been efficient, having thrown for over 600 yards and seven touchdowns in three MTAL starts. Payton Flores has nearly 400 yards in receptions.
Stevenson is going to attack the Gonzales' secondary behind Casey Mornhinweg, who broke the single-season school record for touchdown passes in just five games.
Mornhinweg is coming off a five-touchdown effort in a loss to King City, giving him 21 on the year - 13 going to Will Lansbury, who has 52 catches for nearly 900 yards.
The Spartans have struggled defensively, allowing 47 points a game. Stevenson is putting the ball in the air 38 times a game.
