Soledad-Salinas football

Friday's game
Soledad (0-1) at Salinas (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Aztecs had an extra week to gear up for its first ever meeting with Salinas -- and rediscover an offense that gave up as many points as it scored in the opener.
After committing five turnovers in its opener, Salinas played a clean game in a 19-point victory over Pioneer, in which it ran off 28 unanswered points after trailing 3-0.
Ritchie Cerda became the first Salinas running back in 13 games to rush for over 100 yards last week with a 113-yard effort.
Salinas quarterback Brett Reade, who accounted for three touchdowns in his first start, has a favorite target in Cooper Smith, who caught eight passes for 101 yards last week.
Smith has also been a menace on defense with five sacks in two games for the Cowboys, who have allowed less than 200 yards a game.
Defense carried Soledad to a share of its first Mission Trail Athletic League title last year. It allowed  just 153 yards in total offense in its season opening loss to Seaside.
Agustine Meza is coming off a 13 tackle effort for the Aztecs while Daniel Contawe tallied 12 and Andrew Hernandez 10. Offensively, Emmanuel Ortega has got to get untrack.
