Soledad football

Take the hand off the panic button. Everything is going to be fine in south county.
There is nothing wrong with heighten expectations. What else would you expect after Soledad set a school record for wins in capturing a share of the programs first ever league title last fall.
So Soledad took its lumps in falling to Seaside and Salinas -- two teams that will chase titles in their respective leagues this season.
The Aztecs wanted to gauge where the program is and where it expects to go in the future.
While it didn't translate to wins, head coach Frankie Berlanga is right when he said after Friday's win over Alisal that those two games showed what Soledad needed to work on.
The Aztecs defense demonstrated why it's the heart of this team when Aaron Rodriguez set the tone Friday with a pick six.
Soledad's defense has yet to allow a point in the third quarter this year. And while the offense is still finding itself, a 134 yard rushing effort from Emmanuel Ortega is a starting point.
