Pacific Grove-Fremont football

Friday's game
Pacific Grove (1-1) at Fremont, Sunnyvale (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
The Firebirds opened the season with a 48-0 win over James Lick. Of course, last fall they started the year 2-0 before giving up 60 points to Pacific Grove in a Week 3 loss.
What followed was eight straight setbacks to close the season, in which Fremont allowed 383 points over the course of the losing streak.
Still smarting from a 37-9 loss to Orestimba, the Breakers have allowed 79 points in two games, and  have been outscored 30-6 in the second quarter.
Noah Cryns had thrown for nearly 300 yards and rushed for 202, accounting for five touchdowns for Pacific Grove. Both of his touchdown passes have gone to Nick Coppla.
Don't be mislead by Ben Tui's 5-foot-5 stature. The 165-pound Fremont tailback piled up 243 yards and five touchdowns last week.
An opportunist Firebirds defense recorded seven sacks and created four turnovers last week. Depth is becoming an issue for the Breakers, who were down a couple of two-way starters last week.
