North Salinas-Salinas football

Saturday's game
Salinas (3-2) vs. North Salinas (2-3) at Rabobank, 7 p.m.
The Cowboys defense is two quarters shy of matching the 2002 team that went 13 quarters without allowing a touchdown.
Cooper Smith has eight sacks coming off the edge on defense for Salinas, which has allowed just 27 points in its last four games.
Smith also leads the team in receiving yards while Ritchie Cerda has rushed for over 100 yards three times this fall, compiling 535 yards in five games.
Erik Delgadillo is coming off a 226 yard rushing effort for the Vikings. A week earlier, quarterback Tim Burkhardt threw for 345 yards and four touchdowns.
So the Vikings can move the football. Burkhardt has either rushed or thrown for over 1,000 yards in five games while Damon Diaz has 22 catches for 487 yards and four touchdowns.
Salinas has won the last seven meetings between the two Salinas rivals, with the average margin of victory being 27 points. Just one game has been decided by 19 points or less.
North Salinas, which outscored opponents 88-28 last year in the third quarter, has already given up 44 points in the third quarter this year.
Salinas has a 34-23 edge over North Salinas in this annual rivalry game.
