North County-Marina football

Saturday's game
North County (0-2) vs. Marina (0-1) at MPC, 6 p.m.
The Condors have yet to produce a point in the first half while Marina was blanked in its opener last week, falling 41-0 to Seaside.
So look for a shootout this Saturday.
There were flashes for North County last week, such as Joseph Barrios compiling over 200 yards in offense, 148 of which came on seven catches, including a 45 yard touchdown reception.
Quarterback Steven Flores look a little more comfortable in running the offense, tossing two scoring strikes. And the Condors defense forced four turnovers, including a pick from Barrios.
Marina won just three games last year. But two of them came at MPC, including a school record 57 point outburst. In fact, its two highest scoring totals in school history have come at MPC.
Defense is suppose to be the Mariners strength this fall, behind returning all-league linebacker Angel Guevara. But it can't be on the field all night.
Dating back to its inaugural season seven years ago, the first quarter has continued to be a thorn in Marina's side.
The Mariners decision this season to schedule three teams it had never faced before from the Pacific Division in non-league play was gutsy.
