The Lobos, who host Sequoias today at 3 p.m., have already surpassed last year's entire win total of three, with 12 of their 14 players on the roster being freshmen.
For a program that was winless in the Coast Conference last year and 4-28 over the last three years, the expectation is to contend for a title as conference play draws near.
A balanced attack at the net, coupled with a dynamic defense anchored by former Seaside defensive specialist Brittany Aledo, has contributed to the 6-1 non-conference start.
The offense has revolved around a two-set attack that includes a pair of freshmen in King City alum Maria Deniz and Monterey product Alyssa Flanary, who have a combined 198 assists.
Deniz has formed a bond with a pair of former King City teammates in Natalie Robinson and Aly Carroll, as the dynamic duo have nearly 80 kills between them.
Sophomore Veronica Lampreda has provided leadership for a team with so much youth, compiling 38 kills and a team high 76 digs.
