Carmel volleyball

It hasn't been ideal for the Padres not having a gym to call home this fall.
Practices have been scattered at three different sites, while their first 17 matches have all been on the road.
Delays in the renovations to Carmel's gym are likely to keep the team on the road for at least two more weeks.
"It's been a mental challenge,'' Carmel coach Israel Ricardez said.
Yet, going into tonight's road match in King City, the Padres are 5-0 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Four of those five wins have been sweeps.
Originally the Padres were expected to have their gym back in time for the second half of the league season.
 That is now in question.
Which could mean two trips to King City.
"I don't want to go back to Gonzales a second time,'' Ricardez said.
Through it all, the Padres have persevered behind a core that includes Megan Gonzalez, who leads the team in kills (135) and assists (180).
Hana Nystrom and Soana Loalatu have been nice compliments at the net for Carmel, while Madi Lombardi and Nystrom have been rocks in the back row.
King City has been a thorn in the Padres side, splitting its season series two of the last three years. The year the Padres swept them in 2014 was the year they went undefeated in league.
