Salinas Valley Hall of Fame

Among the icons enshrined Saturday into the Salinas Valley Sports Hall of Fame was current King City volleyball coach Debbie Hudson.
Hudson was the first volleyball coach in the county to guide a program to the state championships in 1990. King City has been a perennial playoff team for the last three plus decades under Hudson.
Joining Hudson in a very elite group of Hall of Famers included former major league baseball slugger Xavier Nady, who hit over 100 homers in his career and won two World Series rings, the last with the Giants in 2012. The Salinas grad was also an All-American at Cal.
Recently retired NFL special teams standout Kassim Osgood, a North Salinas alum, spent 12 years in the NFL, earning three pro bowl appearances with the Chargers.
Also enshrined was former Notre Dame softball coach Joe Given, who won over 700 games in 30 years -- leading the program to a state record nine straight CCS divisional titles.
Mark Haddan, who dropped in 71 points during his senior year at Alisal, and is now the basketball coach at Alvarez, was a part of the ceremonies along with his 1971 Trojans basketball teammates.
Rounding out the elite group is Salinas native and former four-time BYU All-American and PGA golfer Mike Brannan, who won a US Junior amateur title at 15 in 1971.
