Pacific Grove football

A knack for dramatic endings is nothing new for the Breakers.
Remember last year's 22-yard field goal by Noah Ryan with no time left to beat Scotts Valley 37-35, enabling Pacific Grove to advance to the CCS title game.
If you recall, Pacific Grove scored nine points in the final minute, using an onside kick to set up the game winning field goal.
The Breakers were at it again in Friday's opener, this time producing 12 points in the final minute, using a Noah Cryns touchdown run with no time left in a 46-42 win over Watsonville.
While the stakes weren't as high, you could not have scripted this ending. I mean, attempting a two-point conversation to tie the game and the lights go out.
Once power was restored, the Breakers failed on the two-point conversion. Yet, recovering an onside kick -- again -- gave them life.
And Cryns delivered in the clutch, getting into the end zone as time expired.
While giving up 42 points is not a recipe for success, a game like this can set the tone for a program chasing a third straight Mission Trail Athletic League title.
