Alvarez-Alisal football

Friday's game
Alvarez (1-0) at Alisal (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
There's no such thing as a must win in Week 2. Important win? Depends on your prospective or long term goals. League play is still three weeks off.
Yet, if you're first year Alisal coach Cesar Chaidez, you might feel a little more pressure to get that initial win to keep that energy you established in the off-season going forward.
Plus the Trojans don't want to start the year 0-2 at home. Alisal was a dominate team last season at home, going 4-1.
Alvarez has won the last three meetings with Alisal, outscoring them 116-30, including last seasons 36-0 shutout. In its 10 other games last fall, it allowed 351 points.
While Alisal allowed 20 unanswered points in a 34-14 loss to North Salinas last week, the Eagles ran off the games final 16 points in a 24-point win over North County.
Alvarez piled up over 200 rushing yards last week, with quarterback Logan Esparza rushing for 128 yards while throwing for 66 yards.
Quarterback Raul Garnica was sharp in the first half last week for the Trojans, tossing two scoring strikes, but was shutout in the second half.
In fives losses last year, Alisal managed just one touchdown in the third quarter.
