Palma High graduate Michael Carrizosa has been named to the Preseason All-Mountain West football team for San Jose State as a punter.
A finalist for the Ray Guy award last year for the Spartans, given to the nations top punter, Carrizosa was third in the nation last year in punting at 47.5 yards per punt.
A second team All-American last fall as a sophomore, Carrizosa set a net school punting record last season at 42.4 yards per punt. An All-West selection last year, he was also named San Jose State’s Special Teams Player of the Year.
Carrizosa was a walk on at San Jose State after punting and kicking for Palma in 2012, He improved his average from 37.1 in 2014 to 47.2 in 2015.
