A even dozen 2016 high school graduates that will continue their sports careers in college have been granted scholarships by the Gen Giammanco Foundation.
Among those chosen were Paul Cieri of Trinity Christian, Jack Harris of Aptos, Ryan Ixtlahuac of York School and Jack Margolis of Stevenson.
Also selected were Nikki DeSerpa of Notre Dame, Alissa Foster of North Salinas, Makenna DePuydt of Soquel, Brittany Perez of Alisal, Lauren Salvati of Carmel, Delilah Houck of North County and Sophia Tellez of Salinas.
Established in 2010 in honor of Giammanco, a former volleyball standout at Salinas High, the foundation has awarded over $130,000 to athletes pursing their dream of playing sports in college and getting a college education.
Applications for the 2016-17 school year will be available at www.gengiammancofoundation.org on Jan. 15, 2017.
